Avant Arte (disclosure: I’m an investor in it) makes great artists’ work available to everyone via beautifully done editions at modest prices. Not to be bought for appreciation although a lot of the prior releases have done so.

"Limited edition" is just a fancy word for poster or reproduction. I guess the term "giclee" has lost its lustre as the way to dupe collectors with them. The biggest scam there is in the art market

Thank you for the suggestion!

"Two hundred years ago, it was very common to have 20 to 30 artworks per household."

The gentleman or gentlelady making that statement agrees with the old-school view that the 99% of humankind aren't humans.

It was no more than 1% of "households" who had artworks.

Excellent post and video. I'd be curious to understand more about why pop art, which seems designed to be mass produced, would cause prices to go up. The replicability of pop art seems like something that would depress prices because each piece is not unique.

I wonder if the cut in USAID has something to do with art price decline? I noticed with White Cube pushing many artists that seem to paint badly floral decorated shower curtains, not able to inspire any reaction whether edgy, new, shocking, or admirable.
